Joe Sanders, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, passed away on February 19, 2025. Born and raised in south Alabama to John and Emma Sanders, Joe carried his southern roots with honor throughout his life. He was a graduate of Troy University and went on to earn his Master’s degree from Austin Peay State University. He was a proud Army veteran, a dedicated football coach, and a respected financial advisor.
Joe was married to his sweetheart, Debbie, for 44 years. Together, they built a life full of joy, laughter, and treasured memories. His greatest pride was his family; his children, Jen, Jon (Ashley), and Jessica (Ryan), and his grandchildren, Ethan, Ryleigh, RJ, and Noah, who all brought him endless joy. Every moment spent with his family was cherished, and his love for them was deep and unwavering.
As a coach, Joe was much more than a mentor; he was a leader, a teacher, and a father figure to countless young athletes. To him, his players were family. He taught them lessons that went beyond the scoreboard; discipline, respect, hard work, and playing with heart.
Off the field, Joe was a man of faith. He was a member of Long Hollow Church and loved spending time outdoors; whether hunting, playing sports, or simply enjoying the company of those he cared about most. You could always recognize Joe by his signature backward ball cap or in his Stetson, looking every bit like the John Wayne characters he admired. He carried himself with rugged charm, quiet strength, and a steady confidence that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Joe’s faith guided him, his family grounded him, and his passion for life shaped his legacy. Though his absence leaves a deep void, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
