Jimmie Dale “Jim” Gillihan, age 82, died peacefully, surrounded by family.
Jim lived most of his life in Gallatin, Tennessee, where he built a life rooted in hard work and devotion to family. He was happiest and most content passing his days with his wife and best friend, Mary Lou, and being surrounded by the people he loved. Known as someone who could fix just about anything, he was generous with his time and his skills.
He spent his career working as a lineman and engineer for the Gallatin Department of Electricity, a role he took pride in and through which he served his community for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Gillihan; his son Mike Gillihan (Dana); his daughter Kellye Jones (Todd); his stepchildren Donna Morgan, Steve Givens, and Mary Beth McGruder (Bryan); his brothers Howard and Ron Gillihan; and his sister Linda Gillihan. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Jim deeply loved his family, and they loved him in return. He will be missed and lovingly remembered.
The memorial service will be held in the chapel of Sellars Family Heritage at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 8, 2026 with Bro. David Spears officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service.
