Jerry Wayne Doss passed away on Monday, October 17, 2022, at home surrounded by family, he was 75 years old.

He was born April 21, 1947 in Gallatin, TN the son of William Edison Doss and Dema Nadine (Johnson) Doss.

Jerry graduated from Westmoreland High School, Class of 1965. Following graduation, in August of 1965, he served 4 years with the U.S. Army as a Sergeant in Vietnam and Germany during the Vietnam War. After the war, he married his wife Dottie on August 11, 1971. They celebrated 51 years of marriage in August.

He worked at R.R. Donnelley Printing Company, where he retired in 2010 after 35 years with the company.

Jerry loved sports and was an avid supporter of Westmoreland high school basketball and attended every season for many years. He also enjoyed coaching soccer and watching his kids play.

He was a devoted husband, father, and grandpa to his family who meant the world to him, as he meant everything to them. His proudest title in life was “Pa” and he enjoyed spending time with each of his 5 grandchildren.

Jerry was a storyteller; he could remember so many events with such clarity and vigor. He could spin a story with enthusiasm and sound effects that made listening to his stories an immersive experience. He always knew at least one person everywhere he went and so many share such fond memories of him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edison and Dema Doss.

He is survived by his wife Dottie (Clark) Doss, His son, Chad Doss, Daughters, Emily Goodman (Will David) Carrie Moore (Bill) & Tiffany Doss (Secret) 5 Grandchildren, Rachel Hale, Brianna Hunter, Krew Capps, Ali Capps, & Henley Doss. A brother, Mickey Doss (Sandra) as well as several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Funeral services for Mr. Doss will be conducted on Thursday, October 20th, 2022, at 1 PM from the chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Dunigan and Bro. Patrick Eller officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, October 19th from 5 PM-8 PM and again on Thursday from 9 AM-service time at 1 PM from Woodard Funeral Home. https://www.rwoodardfuneralhome.com
