James Terry Butterworth Obit

James Terry Butterworth, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, peacefully passed away on June 14, 2025, at the age of 87.

Born on January 29, 1938, James dedicated over 20 years of his life to a fulfilling career at Oscar Meyer. He also worked at Christian Community School in White House. His commitment to his work reflected the loyal and dependable nature he exhibited throughout his life.

James was more than just a provider; he was the embodiment of family values. A loving husband to his wife, Mrs. Barbara Butterworth, with whom he shared an enduring marriage of 69 years, James placed family above all else. He found great joy in nurturing his relationships with his children—Teresa Puckett, Billy Butterworth (Kay Nakasone), and Clark Butterworth—as well as his 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, affectionately known as “Papa.” His pride in his grandchildren stood as one of his proudest accomplishments, highlighting his unwavering dedication to his family.

Known for his sweet demeanor and ever-present sense of humor, James had a remarkable talent for brightening any room with laughter. James enjoyed woodworking and was celebrated in his community as the number one fudge maker in White House, often indulging in dessert cooking that delighted those around him.

James’s legacy will continue through his loving family, including his siblings, Carl Butterworth, George Butterworth, Maurice Butterworth, Frances Butterworth, and Linda Harp. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Susie Butterworth, and siblings Jessie Butterworth, Donald Butterworth, Kenneth Butterworth, and Burton Butterworth.
