James Howard (Snooty) Johnson of Gallatin, TN passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 21 surrounded by his three daughters.
July 1, 1937 he was born, the last of five children, to Norman Edward and Annie Bertha West Johnson in the Rock Bridge Community of Sumner County.
He is predeceased by his parents, his four siblings and his wife, Dottie Perry Johnson. He is survived by his three daughters, Sheila Johnson (Bob) Smith, Sharon Johnson, and Sindy (Randy) Moore; Grandchildren Anna Marie Smith, Adriane Smith (Dusty Brown), Amanda (Daniel) Hyberger, and Alison Smith (Michael) Aldrich, Jacob (Julie) Cunningham, and ten great grandchildren.
He retired from Armstrong/Pirelli Tire in 1996 after 30 years. His first love was his family. He also loved the outdoors and worked in his yard and garden into his eighties. He loved bluegrass music and resumed square dancing in 2003 and made many, many dance friends who became his second family.
He generously provided transportation to the dances, gave away the garden produce and purchased/delivered Christmas poinsettias to friends and elderly. He always supported those in need; home repairs, monetarily or visiting nursing homes. He donated countless hours maintaining and collecting donations for the Rock Bridge Community Cemetery where most of his family is buried.
All of these traits, his quick wit and sense of humor will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Visitation at Sellars Family Heritage Funeral Home on Albert Gallatin Rd in Gallatin TN on Sunday, July 26 from 3pm-7pm. Private graveside service at Rock Bridge Community Cemetery on Monday, July 27 at 11:00 am.
