James Edward Dill, age 91 of Gallatin, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026. The Funeral Service will be held in the chapel of Sellars Family Heritage at 03:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026 with Pastor Todd Alexander officiating. Interment will be at Conatser Cemetery in Lebanon, TN with Joe Jung, Curtis Scruggs, Preston Tatum, Caleb Tatum, Lane Scruggs, and Pastor Andrew Kirkpatrick serving as pallbearers. The Family will be receiving friends and family on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 04:00 p.m. – 07:00 p.m. and on Saturday, August 8, 2026 from 01:00 p.m. until service time.
James Edward Dill was born on Monday, October 29, 1934 to the late Henry Taylor Dill and Kathleen Walker Dill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife of 62 years, Inez Dill; daughter, Carolyn Victor; brother, Ray Dill; sister, Mae Dill; granddaughter, Promise-Marie Harrison; grandson, Corey R. Gammons.
He is survived by daughters, Audra Dill of Gallatin, TN, and Christy (Joe) Jung of Portland, TN; sons, Phillip (Joy) Scruggs of KY, Curtis (Buttons) Scruggs of AL, and Kevin Scruggs of Hartsville, TN; 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Dill retired from Byron’s BBQ and enjoyed working at the Parkland Flea Market in Lebanon in his later years. He was a loving father who deeply loved his family. James was a veteran, serving in The United States Army, and loved his country. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
