James Caldwell Burkey, age 74 of White House passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at The Residence of Alive Hospice. He was born July 28, 1951 in Osaka, Japan to William Alfred & Henrietta Smythe Burkey.
He was employed as a computer programmer with the State of Tennessee before his retirement. He enjoyed playing guitar, horse racing and was an avid Washington Commanders and Baltimore Orioles fan.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ilene Forsht and Etta Herrin. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Susan Burkey; son, Michael (Brittany) Burkey, both of White House, TN; brother, William Burkey, VA; 3 grandchildren, Micah Keeler, Penelope Burkey and Willa Burkey.
A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 12 noon in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House. Inurnment immediately following in White House Memorial Gardens. Visitation is planned for Thursday, March 12, 2026 10AM-12PM at the funeral home.
