OBITUARY: Jacqulyn Lou “Jackie” Denton

Jacqulyn “Jackie” Lou Denton, age 68, of Portland, passed away on July 5th, 2026 at Highpoint Health-Sumner in Gallatin, TN. Mrs. Denton was born in Madison, TN on May 29th, 1958 to the late William Turley & the late Gwendolyn Neal Scott.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Denton was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry C. Denton.

Mrs. Denton was employed with Sumner County Schools where she was known as “Nana” to many children in the Wise Kids program. She loved her job and her co-workers. Her greatest joy on this earth was her family. Jackie never met a stranger and to know her was to love her. She will be deeply missed.

Mrs. Denton is survived by her daughter, Michelle Maynard of Portland; son, Patrick (Kelly) Dalrymple of Cottontown; grandchildren, Justin (Brittany) Maynard of Portland, Bryce (Ashley) Dalrymple of Portland, & Xander Denton; great grandchildren, Violet Maynard, Marceline Maynard, & Audrey Dalrymple.

The family for Mrs. Denton has chosen cremation. A celebration of life has been scheduled for July 17, 2026, from 4pm – 7pm at Christ Covenant Fellowship located at 135 Cook Rd., Portland, TN 37148.
