Harry-Griffin

It is with great sadness that we let you know that Harry Gregory Griffin (Gregg), 73, of Hendersonville, Tennessee has passed away after a heroic battle with cancer.

If we used every positive adjective in the dictionary, it would still not adequately describe what a beautiful human being he was.

He served his country in Vietnam and retired from the Army after twenty years of service.  He was a highly decorated veteran. He went on to work at the United States Postal Service till he retired permanently.

He will be remembered as the loving husband to his wife of over fifty-two years Jean Griffin, a beloved father to two children, daughter Beth Ann (Griffin) Benjamin and son-in-law Jason, his dear son Matthew Griffin and cherished grandfather to Amanda Benjamin.  He was preceded in death by his parents Warren and Lois Griffin of Fremont, North Carolina, and his mother and father-in-law Frank and Georgia Bueter of Indiana.

We are thankful for all the cherished memories we have of him. His favorite things were family, any body of water especially the Gulf of Mexico, fishing, reading, music, multiple beloved pets, and good home cooking.

Gregg was a hero in both life as well as in death and will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia where a mass and private graveside service with full military honors will be conducted.

Funeral arrangements were provided by Hendersonville Funeral Home. We would like to thank all the kind and wonderful caregivers and volunteers at Alive Hospice for their comfort. We would especially like to thank Dr. Lovly and E. Skotte APRN, all of the infusion nurses, lab techs, and staff at the Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center.

In lieu of flowers, we kindly request that you honor his memory with a donation to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN, 37203 (www.alivehospice.org), the research program at Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center (www.vicc.org), the Humane Society of the United States (www.humanesociety.org) or for masses at any Catholic Church.
