Grover “Buddy” David Hunter, Jr., a member of the Gallatin community, passed away on Saturday, January 4th, 2025, at the age of 82.

Buddy was born on Monday, November 9th, 1942, to the late Grover Hunter, Sr., and Lula Freeze Martin.

Buddy was born and raised in the Rockbridge community, where he spent most of his life before serving in the United States Army. He loved to volunteer at the local food bank and participate in pool tournaments. His motorcycles were his pride and joy, and he enjoyed riding them any chance he got.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Jewell Dean “Judy” Hunter; stepfather, Artice Martin; and brother-in-law, Joe Pallo.

He is survived by sons, Jeffery Hunter of Portland and Roy (Rachel) Hunter of Gallatin; daughter, Josie Angel Thomas of Gallatin; sister, Matilda Mae “Tillie” Pallo of Bluffton, South Carolina; brothers, James “Jimmy” (Rosemary) of Gallatin; grandchildren, Boyer (Kyla) Hunter, Colt (Ashley) Hunter, Bailey Hunter, Annabelle Hunter, and Hunter Thomas West; great-grandchildren, Sophie Jane Hunter, Khloe Bee Hunter, Presley Hunter, and Juniper Hunter; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

The Celebration of Life Service, conducted by Bro. Chris Roberts, will be held in the chapel of Sellars Family Heritage Funeral Home at Gallatin on Saturday, January 25th, 2025, at 02:00 p.m. Interment will follow with Military Honors in New Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation prior to the service on Saturday, January 25th from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 02:00 p.m.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.
