Grace Janet Buikema, age 81, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023 in Gallatin, Tennessee.
She was born on August 29, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Tracy and Nicholas Wiersama.
Grace is also preceded in death by her husband, Peter D. Buikema; and brother-in-law, Harold De Groot.
She is survived by children, Peter B. Buikema (Suzanne), Daniel Buikema (Megan), and Sarah Franklin (Eric); grandchildren, Colleen, Liam, Camryn, Aidan, and Griffin; and sister, Alyce De Groot.
Grace was a graduate of the Timothy Christian School in Illinois. While living in Illinois, Grace was very active with the Christian Women’s Club who hosted ‘Coffee Breaks’ for Bible studies. Once moving to Gallatin she attended the Sumner Christian Fellowship Church. She enjoyed needlework, reading, making cards, and her life-long passion of caring for children.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Compassion International.
