Garry Houston Belt was born on November 19, 1944 in Cleveland OH and passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at age 78.
Garry moved to Madison TN at 6 months old and lived there until marrying in 1968. He and Gwen moved to Hendersonville TN in 1969. They lived there for 53 years.
Garry married Gwen Watts on March 29, 1968 and were happily married for 54 years. He never missed a day telling her he loved her. He graduated from Madison High School in 1962. He excelled at all sports, especially football. He was the quarterback for the undefeated team of 1961. He worked for DuPont and retired at the end of 2002 after 38 years.
He played lots of softball and tennis. He was part of a tennis team that went to the Nationals at West Palm Beach, FL. After retirement, he started playing golf. He got a hole-in-one at the Kenny Perry Golf Course in Franklin, KY.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy Ramsay; Parents, Walter and Margie Belt; Brothers, Melvin, Gerald, Lawrence, Billy and Fred Belt.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gwen Belt. Daughter, Denise Belt (Edgar Machado Belt), son-in-law Jim Ramsay, and brother, David Belt (Wanda). He was so proud to be called POP by his grandsons, Tyler and Tanner. And many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Garry’s life will be held at 1 pm on the afternoon of Saturday, December 10, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Hendersonville with Dr. Bruce Chesser officiating. A visitation will be held two hours prior starting at 11 am in the chapel.
Honorary Pallbearers are the members of the Bracey Class at First Baptist Church Hendersonville, TN., his football, softball, tennis, and golfing buddies and close friends.
