Fred Myron Shetters, age 74, of Portland, passed away on December 30th, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Shetters was born in Stevenson, AL on August 15th, 1950 to the late William Hershel Shetters & the late Opal Irene Peters-Shetters.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Shetters was preceded in death by his sister, Dianne Shetters; grandparents, George and Ellen Shetters and Mit and Mae Peters; father-in-law, Homer Mayes.
Mr. Shetters is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Brenda Mayes Shetters of Portland; sons, Ty Shetters of Westmoreland & Todd (Katie) Shetters of Portland; grandchildren, Scarlet Shetters (Isaiah Mason) & Paisley Shetters; sister, Judy (Ben) Freeman of South Pittsburg, TN and special aunt, Barbara Rinehart (Mark) of Jacksboro, TN; mother-in-law, Norma Jean Mayes; sisters-in-law, Mary Ola Pitt (Charles), Lesia Black (Kerry); brother-in-law, Homer Dale Mayes (Lisa) all of Portland, along with several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Shetters grew up in South Pittsburg, TN where he graduated in 1968 from South Pittsburg High School and played football. He was also a proud combat Army Veteran in the Vietnam War, a devout member and former trustee at Halltown General Baptist Church, a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and working with his hands.
Funeral service for Mr. Shetters will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 4th, 2025 at Halltown General Baptist Church with Bro. Mike Brady and Bro. Tommy Booker officiating.
Visitation for Mr. Shetters will be Friday, January 3rd, 2025 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm & on Saturday, January 4th, 2025 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Halltown General Baptist Church.
Interment will be at Old Halltown Cemetery with Army Military Honors. https://www.wilkinsonwiseman.com
