Edward Hatton “Ed” Lane, 96, of Hendersonville TN, passed away Monday, January 31st.

Mr. Lane was a legend amongst Sumner County fishing enthusiasts and continued to fish every single day until well into his mid-90’s. He and his buddies were members of the Krystal Club, meeting at the restaurant every day to hang out and share stories.

He took great pride in his World War II Army service. Mr. Lane was stationed with the 507th Black Cat Company, Spider Division of the 82nd Airborne, and parachuted into France on D-Day. He was wounded in combat and received two Purple Hearts. He retired after a decades long career with Sears as a manager. He and his wife Sarah owned Lane’s Beauty Box in Inglewood. Mr. Lane enjoyed was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and Vanderbilt football. Once you met him, he was a friend for life. He cared for his family and friends fiercely, was an avid reader, and most days would rather be on a lake fishing than anywhere else in the world.

Preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 60 years, Sarah Kathleen Rogers, and his daughter Patricia Jo Millholland.

He is survived by loving family, loyal friends, and dedicated caregivers. A special thanks and appreciation to Red Cedar Glen and Adoration Hospice for the care and love of our precious grandfather.

A Celebration of Life for Mr. Lane will be held at Hendersonville Funeral Home, 353 East Main Street, on Friday, March 11th, 2022 at 11:00 AM. Inurnment with Military Honors will follow the service at Hendersonville Memory Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 10:00 AM.

The family requests In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Adoration Hospice or the Wounded Warrior Project.
