Earl C. Bass, 79, a 44 year resident of Hendersonville, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, November 20th due to complications from surgery.

Earl was born July 7th, 1942, in Franklin, Tennessee to Leon and Henrietta Bass. He attended Franklin City Schools and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from MTSU.

After graduation from college, Earl served in the Tennessee Army National Guard and had a successful, lifelong career with The Kroger Company. Earl was the produce merchandiser for Kroger for the Southland division for the last twenty years of his career with Kroger. During his time at Kroger, he also served as an attaché to the United States Agriculture Department. After retirement, he founded B&B Sales, a food brokerage.

Earl was an active member of his community, serving as an Alderman for Ward 4. He was a past President of the Hendersonville Evening Sertoma. He was also a President of Indian Lake Swim and Tennis Club and involved in Ducks Unlimited and Quail Unlimited.

Earl was a member of Hendersonville First United Methodist Church and the Poe Williams Sunday School Class.

Earl was preceded in death by his father Leon G. Bass, mother Henrietta Morton Bass, sister Lois Hall, and brothers Leon G. “Buddy” Bass and Horace Bass.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Molly, his daughter Sibyl Reagan, son-in-law Colbey, and lovingly known to his grandchildren, Grace, Sadie, and Cooper as “Big Buddy”, his sister Lisa Bass, and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 27th from 12:00 pm-2:00 pm. Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home with interment to follow. A reception will be held afterward at Hendersonville First United Methodist Church.

Phillip Bass, Mike Hall, Jerry Huggins, Bob Bristol, George Welch, Clyde Mosley, Skip Dean, Donnie Davis, Steve Blaine, Dan Ellison, Roger Neely, and Shaun Hollinsworth will serve as pallbearers.

The Poe Williams Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hendersonville First United Methodist Church or to the charitable organization of your choice.
