Douglas Johnson Collins, age 81, of Portland, passed away surrounded by family at Alive Hospice in Nashville on July 16th, 2022.

Mr. Collins was born in Portland, Tennessee on April 29th, 1941, to the late Maurice Conrad Collins and late Lorelle Eunice Vanatta-Collins.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry Collins, Buster Collins, and Donald Collins; sister, Shirley Hall; brother-in-law, Donnie Brewster.

Mr. Collins is survived by his sister Maurelle Brewster; sixteen nieces and nephews; thirty-three great nieces and nephews.

Mr. Collins served two years in the United States Army. After the Army, Mr. Collins worked with his brother, Buster Collins at DieMaster and later at Volunteer Tool. Mr. Collins started DougCollins Tool Company in 1997 and sold it in 2015 and retired.

Special thanks to Sarah Berry and Susanne Smith for the special care they gave to Douglas. Also special thanks to Frank Collins, Jerry Johnson, and Veachel Gregory, for the many visits, phone calls, taking Douglas on rides, and the many acts of love and kindness they showed him.

There will be a private graveside service for family and friends at 1 pm on Monday, July 18th, 2022, at Maple Hill Cemetery, with Jerry Johnson officiating.

Joey Collins, Johnny Collins, Jefferey Collins, Charles Collins, Ty Collins, Scott Brewster, Eddie Brewster, and Frank Collins will serve as Pallbearers.
