Dottie “Sue” Cline, age 82 of Portland, Tennessee passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023 at White House Healthcare.
Sue was born on May 11, 1941 in Castalian Springs, Tennessee to the late Bob and Mai Stamps.
Although our hearts are filled with sadness, Sue wants us to try to find a way to smile and laugh the same way she would light up a room. Heaven is a little brighter today because she is home with her mother, Mai and father, Robert (Bob), her sisters, Jean and Jewel, along with so many other family members and friends.
Sue lived for the Lord every single day of her life along with giving everything she possibly had to every single member of her family. She found time to dance a little (she was darn good), and watch quite a bit of sports; especially her beloved Dallas Cowboys.
She was well-read and could tell you all you wanted to know about current events. She kept a spotless house and was the best cook ever. Her lawn was always the best-kept in the neighborhood due to her attention to detail and her love for plants and flowers.
Miss Sue, as so many called her, found her true calling and most rewarding work later in life when she went to work as a teacher’s aide in the CDC class at Portland High School. She loved everyone regardless of their background or whatever physical or mental disability they may have been dealt.
Her love shined and could be seen through her work and the way she cared for each and every student. She helped lead the Special Olympics at PHS. One of her proudest moments in life was when one of her students was named Homecoming Queen.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Bobbie Jean Beasley and Jewel Peay.
Sue is survived by her children, Miles (Rita) Cline, Emily (Todd) Turner, and Scottie (Beth) Cline; grandchildren, Ashley (Matt) Cook, Tuesday (Tyler) Weidner, Whitney (Ryan) Goostree, Bailey Cline, and Easton Cline; seven great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, October 25th at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Sellars Family Heritage at Portland. Interment will follow the service at Bethpage Cemetery with Allen Dyer, Scott Martin, Billy Newland, Dusty Johnson, Jim Davis, Tim Bell, and Jeff Minnis serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, October 24th from 4:00-8:00 PM and Wednesday, October 25th from 11:00 AM until time of service at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the CDC Classroom at Portland High School. Portland High School, C/O CDC Classroom, 600 College St., Portland, TN 37148.
