Mrs. Dorris Ann (Willis) Brown, age 69, of Gallatin, TN, (formerly of Westmoreland) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, February 14, 2022.
Dorris was born on June 22, 1952.
She was preceded in death by her mother Beatrice Dixon (Jesse), father James Willis, sister Jackie Legieza and son Clint Brown.
She is survived by her husband, John Brown, brothers, Johnny Martin (Cindy) and Danny Martin; sisters, Rita Jones (Jessie) and Lisa Siebel (John); sons, Ken Brown (Casey) and Brad Brown (Crystal); grandchildren, MaKayla, Layne, Lily, Avery, Quinn, Lyric, Collins, and Luke.
Dorris was raised in Sumner County by Nellie “Mammy” and Jasper “Papa” Givens. She married John Brown at age 17 and was married for 51 years. She loved playing basketball in school and later became very involved in her children’s sports as a team mom. She worked for Sumner County Schools for 21 years. She worked at Westmoreland Middle School for 10 years, Gallatin High School for 7 years, and Central Office Board of Education for 4 years.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, February 18th from 4 PM-8 PM at New Hope Church and again on Saturday, February 19th from 10AM-service time at 2 PM at New Hope Church. The funeral services for Mrs. Brown will be conducted on Saturday, February 19th at 2 PM with Bro. John Creasy, Bro. Ken Brown and Bro. Rick Duffer officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Dale Kinnard, Jim French, Nick Martin, Ronnie Regen, Chris Brown, and Taylor Sherril.
