Dorothy “Dot” Marie Mandrell Carter, age 81 of Westmoreland, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022.

She was born October 6, 1940 in Sumner County, TN to Rubin Benjamin & Ova Reed Witt Mandrell.

She was preceded in death by her husband James “Ed” Carter, parents Rubin and Ova Mandrell, infant children – Stacy Carter (1965) and Heather Leshae Carter (1975), and sisters – Eura Mae Garrison and Betty Jean Coates.

She is survived by her sons, Tracy (Teresa) Carter and Troy Carter, both of Westmoreland. Four grandchildren, Katie Carter, Logan Carter, Jenna (Billy) Graves, Ethan Carter. One great-grandchild, Sophia Dru Graves.

In addition to being a loving wife to Ed for 52 years and mother to Tracy & Troy, Dot worked in the WHS cafeteria for several years, as well as Smith Bros Cee Bee for 18 years where she made lifelong friends in the community. She and her sister, Betty, owned and operated The Bake Shop in Westmoreland where they shared their recipes, passion for cooking, and love for helping others.

Lastly, but most importantly, her love for Jesus was apparent to everyone that knew her. She was a Godly example to not only her family, but countless others.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Carter will be held on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Donald Key, Bro. Chad Alderson & Bro. Chad Penick officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove General Baptist Church Cemetery.

Serving as Active Pallbearers will be Chris Coates, Tim Coates, Craig Coates, Logan Carter, Ethan Carter and Billy Graves. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tim Williams, Ted Williams, Tony Williams, Jeff Carter, Joe Carter, Christian Carter, Jason Carter, Lucian Carter, Gary Hammock, David Wilkerson, Barry Frye and Derrill Harris.

The Family will receive visitors beginning on Saturday from 1:00 until 8:00 pm at Woodard Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Sunday 10:00 am until service time at 2:00 pm. https://www.rwoodardfuneralhome.com

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make memorial donations to Oak Grove Cemetery or Rippy Cemetery.
