Donald Ray Bale age 86 of Hendersonville, Tennessee passed away peacefully in Alive Hospice at the Hearth in Hendersonville, Tennessee on March 24, 2023.

He was born on September 2, 1936.  The son of the late Jessie F. Bale and Lillie Grady Earps Bale, he was also preceded in death by his two brothers: Frank G. Bale and James Bale.

He is survived by his wife Mary Lowe Bale and children David Brian Bale (Aimey) and Susan Elizabeth Bale as well as by three grandsons:  Joshua David Bale, Daniel Brian Bale and John Christopher Bale.

Don was born in Nashville, Tennessee where he attended Shwab Elementary School and then graduated from Goodlettsville High School.  He went on to attend Middle Tennessee State University graduating with a degree in Mathematics.  Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Army Medical Service Corps.

Don spent most of his career working for the E. I. DuPont Company where he worked 30 years as a section supervisor in dacron and nylon.  He spent most of his years at the Old Hickory Plant but retired from the plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

He and his family returned to Hendersonville where he built their home and pursued activities in cattle farming, gardening, fishing and traveling cross country with his family.  Don attended Hendersonville First United Methodist Church where he was an active member of the Poe Williams Sunday School Class.

The family wishes to thank Don’s many friends for their support and visits while he was at The Hearth.  They also express their thanks to the staff and nurses at The Hearth for all that they did for Don during his stay there.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 9 am-11 am at Hendersonville United Methodist Church.  A Memorial Service will begin at 11 am.  Burial will be at Hendersonville Memory Gardens. https://www.hendersonvillefh.com

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Don’s name to Hendersonville First United Methodist Church.
