Denise Pullen

Denise Pullen departed this life on Saturday, October 13, 2021.

She was born on February 14, 1955 to Roosevelt Sr. and Reatha Mae Carneygee; the second child of five siblings in Gary Indiana. Denise was known as ‘Niecy’, ‘Juice’, ‘Baby Sister’, ‘Granny’ and ‘Momma P’ to her family, friends, and extended kids that were always at her house.

Before she left this earth, she did acknowledge Jehovah God and was baptized as a witness.

Denise went to West Side High School, where she met the love of her life, Gregory Pullen, Sr. They were married September 28, 1979 in the middle of their living room, where they shared almost 25 years together. Denise was a Homemaker, wife, friend, and amazing mother to five girls and three boys. She enjoyed being around her grandkids and her great-grandkids all the time. Everyone that met her would say “we love your mom”.

Don’t let Niecy fool you – she knew how to have a good time. She was the life of the party. The first one on the dance floor and the last one-off. She was always learning new dance moves and was ready anytime for a dance battle. She also fell in love with traveling with her Kingdom Hall sisters and brothers and her vacations with her family. From New York, Arizona, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Florida. She really enjoyed herself. She always said, “Y’all not leaving me behind”.

The hobby she loved the most was playing basketball with her kids and grandkids. Let her tell it, ‘she had game’. Every time she would make a basket, she would do her dance. She would be at every basketball game screaming louder than the coach. When she was not playing basketball, she loved to garden, talk on the phone, read bible lessons, bowling and shop.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gregory Pullen, Sr.; daughter, Latonya Pullen; sons, Gregory, Jr. and Andre Pullen; her father, Roosevelt Carneygee, Sr.; her mother, Reatha Mae Carneygee; sister, Audrey; Brother Roosevelt Carneygee, Jr.; and niece, Chisle Story.

Denise leaves to cherish her memories her daughters, Tandanisha (Marshall) Parker, Stephanie, Stacy (Sam), and WillieMae; son, George Pullen; grandkids, Johnathan, Justin, and Jovan (Shayla), Cortell, Cortina, Clara, Clarence, Malik, Ma’Kala, Markell, Frank, Lloyd, and Laila; 8 great-grandkids; sister, Shirley Carneygee Story-Nelson; brother, Arnez (Kim) Carneygee; sister-in-law, Pamela Carneygee; several nieces, nephews, family and friends including a special cousin, Luella Sanders; and special friends, Lillian Johnson and Ms. D.
