Delva “Debbie” Jean Watkins Pelley, age 84 of Hendersonville and formerly of Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2023.

Debbie was born on March 14, 1939 in Leachville, Arkansas to the late Oneal Bryant and Clystia Watkins.

Debbie was a Charter Member of Calvary Chapel Church in Jonesboro, Arkansas where she was a member for over 30 years before moving to Hendersonville and has been an online attendee of Long Hollow Church since moving here.

She taught Sunday School for 50 years in every church she attended for any length of time. She was raised in a Christian home and her walk with the Lord was her foremost love and for what she would want to be remembered.

She was a longtime educator and taught at Westside Junior High School in Jonesboro, Arkansas for almost 30 years. Her passion was politics and being a political activist and voice for her students and the citizens of Arkansas.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Harvie Watkins, Marvin Watkins, Troy Watkins, and Nancy Perry.

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Fields (Greg); grandsons, Andrew Fields (Shaela), Zach Fields (Amy), and Ethan Fields (Kristen); great-grandchildren, Andersyn, Reid, Cade, Leighton, Palmer, Charlotte Joy, and Baby Fields due in May; siblings, Lavern Talbert, Seb Law, and Vickey Conley.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Friday, April 28, 2023 in the Chapel of Sumner Funeral & Cremation Lakeside. Private interment will take place in Jonesboro Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until time of service.
