Debra Jean Garretson, 68, of Portland, TN, passed away peacefully in her home on April 8, 2025. She spent her final days surrounded by those she loved and those who loved her most.
She was a loving and patient wife of nearly 50 years to Steven Garretson. Together they had a beautiful family with 5 children: Michael (Robin) Davenport, Barbara Walker, Tracey (Jimmy) Garretson, James (Cara) Garretson, Brettany (Shawn) Hunter.
She went on to love many grandchildren including Anthony Walker, Cameron Amanti, Hannah Sowell, Colby Garretson, Damon Amanti, Emma Garretson, Ethan Davenport, Maverick Amanti, Amelia Hunter, and Matthew Hunter. As well as many great grandchildren including Olivia Walker, Bentley Walker, and River Sowell.
And many nieces and nephews including Kelly Key, Justin Shrum, Barry Niswander, Dale Niswander, Makenzie Whittemore, and Cara Shrum.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alma Wix and Richard Niswander. And survived by her siblings and best friends, Tammy (Roy) Shrum and James Niswander.
Debra was incredibly strong, selfless, and fiercely loved all those in her life. She will be dearly missed.
Celebration of life for Mrs. Garretson will be at 6:00 pm on Saturday, April 12th, 2025 at Wilkinson & Wiseman Funeral Home. There will be visitation for Mrs. Garretson on Saturday, April 12th, 2025 from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm (service time) at Wilkinson & Wiseman Funeral Home.
