David B. Allen, age 74 of Hendersonville, passed away March 30, 2025. David was born July 13, 1950 in Owensboro, Kentucky to the late James E. Allen, Sr. and the late Effie Mae Allen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Allen; sister, Deedra Allen Smith; and brother, James E. Allen, Jr.
He is survived by his daughter, Katrina Shinault; granddaughter, Alayna Bidwell; daughter-in-law, Jessica Bidwell; nephew, Christopher Allen (Dawn); sister-in-law, Frieda Calhoun; cousins, John Taylor and Susan Taylor; dear friends, Jeff and Sue Stevens; and his beloved dogs, Bella and Betty.
Dave graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1973 with an MBA; while at WKU he was a member of the business fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi. He taught at the Bowling Green College of Business Administration from 1976-1981 and worked for many years at Union Underwear/Fruit of the Loom in both Bowling Green and Frankfort, Kentucky.
He enjoyed camping and canoeing; for a couple of Christmases, Dave enjoyed dressing up as Santa and waving to people driving down Main Street in Hendersonville in front of Ultimate Party Superstore, he felt that brought joy to people which made him feel good. As a 70th birthday present to himself, he went skydiving.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at 12:00 P.M. at Beech Cemetery in Hendersonville, TN. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday from 10:30-11:30 at Sumner Funeral & Cremation Lakeside in Hendersonville. We will go in procession from the funeral home to the cemetery and all are welcome to join.
