Cherie Lynn McCluskey passed away on December 12, 2023, at the age of 63 in Gallatin, TN.
She was born on January 30, 1960, in her hometown of Nashville, TN.
Cherie’s kind and welcoming nature made her a cherished figure among friends and family, always making others feel at ease.
She is preceded in death by her father James Blackwell, mother Betty Elkins, sister Rose York, and Randy Burkitt.
Cherie is survived by her loving husband of 24 years Steve McCluskey, son Brandon (Cecelia) Elder, daughter Courtney Hartley, son Gage Worden, and stepson Remington McCluskey, her grandchildren Patrick, Joey, Dawson, and Alexa Belle. She is also survived by Kamryn, Keandre, Karter, Aryana, and Lily who affectionately called her Nanny. Cherie is also survived by her brothers Michael Pinkerton, Ronnie Pinkerton, and Andy (Janice) Pinkerton, sisters Samantha Oliphant, Tammy Lindsey, and Lillie Mae Burkitt, and her cousin who she called a sister Tamera Dimitroff. Cherie also leaves behind her best friend Mary Murphy.
Cherie dedicated a significant portion of her life to her career at Clarke Power Services. She joined the company in 1987 and remained a committed employee until her retirement. Her hardworking nature was evident as she tirelessly and passionately worked day in and day out to contribute to the success of the company.
Outside of her professional life, Cherie was an exceptional homemaker. Her home was always neat and tidy, a testament to her dedication to creating a comfortable living space for her loved ones. She went above and beyond to take care of her family, consistently going out of her way to ensure their happiness and well-being.
One could say that Cherie truly lived life to the fullest. Among her many hobbies and interests, she had a deep love for traveling and exploring new places. Every year, she made it a priority for her family to embark on unforgettable trips together. One destination that held a special place in her heart was Gatlinburg, TN. The memories made there will forever remain cherished by those who had the pleasure of experiencing them with Cherie.
Whenever Cherie found some free time in her busy schedule, she enjoyed immersing herself in books. Reading provided an escape into different worlds and allowed her imagination to soar.
Additionally, she found solace in tending to her yard – transforming it into a vibrant oasis for relaxation. Cherie loved the thrill of finding hidden treasures while thrifting. Bargain hunting became one of her favorite pastimes as she never missed an opportunity to snag a great deal. Her family and friends often marveled at her ability to uncover unique and stylish items.
Cherie’s selfless nature was truly unmatched. She consistently placed the needs of others before her own, embodying the true essence of compassion and love. From the moment she opened her eyes until she closed them at night, she was always busy, constantly ensuring that those around her felt valued and supported.
To honor Cherie’s life, a visitation will be held on December 16, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center located at 584 Nashville Pike, Gallatin, TN. Following the visitation, a memorial service will take place from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location. These services will serve as an opportunity for family and friends to come together to celebrate Cherie’s life and share heartfelt memories.
Cherie Lynn McCluskey leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness. Her impact on the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing her will continue to be felt for years to come. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
