Charles Owen Shepard, age 83, of Gallatin, Tennessee passed away on May 19th, 2023.

Charles was born on August 9th, 1939 in Phoenix, Arizona to the late Charlie Shepard and Wilda Peery Shepard.

He was a loving husband to Gay Ann Morgan Shepard, who preceded him in death, and a dedicated father to Lauren Lowery and husband Bob.

Charles also had two adoring grandchildren, Mattie Lowery and Brett Lowery.

Charles served his country as an Air Traffic Controller during the Vietnam War as a Master Sergeant before retiring from the United States Air Force with honor. His dedication to service continued beyond his military career as he was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Charles will be remembered for his strength of character and kind demeanor. He was a man of many talents who loved learning throughout his lifetime and shared his knowledge willingly with others.

He lived a life full of love and devotion toward his family who were truly grateful for him. Charles was known for his compassion towards others and empathy. It’s difficult to lose such a wonderful person so suddenly; however, we take comfort knowing he lived such an impactful life surrounded by love.

We will all miss him dearly but there is hope found in remembering all of the beautiful memories that he has left us with.

His legacy lives on through your family and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Visitation will be held at Anderson Funeral Home located at 202 East Main St in Gallatin, TN on Monday, May 22nd from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Tuesday, May 23rd from 11:00 AM until service time. The funeral service for Charles will be held at Anderson Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 23rd at 1:00 PM with Brother Tim Frank officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith County Memorial Gardens in Carthage, Tennessee with military honors.
