Charlene “C.J.” Johnstone of Gallatin, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022, she was 80 years old.

Mrs. Johnstone was born October 12, 1941 in Gibson County, TN to the late John Toombs and Sue Dotson Toombs.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brother, Johnny Toombs.

She is survived by husband of 62 years, David Johnstone of Gallatin; daughter, Teresa Johnstone Long (Jeff Farris) of Hendersonville; son, Alan Johnstone (Kristy) of Hermitage; 4 grandchildren, Brandi Gasser (Kyle), Lucas Johnstone, Sam Johnstone, and Adeline Johnstone; and soon-to-be great grandchild, Evelyn Ruth Gasser.

Mrs. Johnstone retired after many years of service from the Sumner County Board of Education working in Adult Education and the GED Program. In addition, she was honored by the board with the Volunteer of The Year Award.

Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, August 20th at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Sellars Family Heritage at Gallatin. Visitation will be Saturday, August 20th from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gallatin First United Methodist Church, 149 West Main Street, Gallatin, TN 37066, Monroe Carell, Jr Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, 2200 Children’s Way, Nashville, TN 37232, or Highpoint Hospice, 300 Steam Plant Road Suite 220, Gallatin, TN 37066.
