Billy Ray Eason, affectionately known as Ray, age 69, of Brownsville, TN passed away in his home surrounded by family on October 9th, 2024. Ray was born in Nashville, TN on March 17th, 1955, to the late Harvey and Betty Eason. Ray is also preceded in death by his loving wife of 20 years Yvonne Cherie Eason, daughter Bethann Eason, daughter Christina Eason, stepson Danny Peak, stepson Sean Eason, niece Regina Eason, father-in-law Michael Earl Morse, daughter-in-law Brittney Eason, sister-in-law Sherry Morse, brother-in-law John Michael Morse. Ray is survived by his children Devin Eason, Darryl Eason, Zack Eason, granddaughters MacKenzie and Violet, brother James Eason Sr., and sister Doris (Stephen) Morse. He leaves behind his nieces and nephews James (Jessica) Eason Jr., Michael Wayne, Maria, Samantha (Corey), Joanna (Jeremy) White, as well as his great nieces and nephews Megan, Kristen, Summer, Joplin, Hannah, Bella, Alex, and Delilah. Ray also is survived by his mother-in-law Margaret Todd and his brother-in-law David Morse.
Throughout his life, Ray dedicated himself to his work as a carpenter, building and creating with a skill that reflected his passion for his trade. His hands shaped not just structures but also the lives of those around him. He was a man who embodied strength and protection, yet was known for his sweetness, warm heart, and giving personality. Friends and family alike remember Ray for his quick wit and excellent sense of humor; his playful teasing was a hallmark of his personality. He had a unique ability to make others laugh, often blurring the lines between seriousness and jest, which endeared him to many.
In addition to his career, Ray had a wide array of interests that included working on motorcycles and muscle cars. His spirit shone through as he rediscovered the joy of riding motorcycles in his later years, reliving the exhilarating moments of his youth. When he was at home, he enjoyed unwinding by watching classic Western movies, particularly those featuring “The Duke,” talking on outlaws, transporting him back to another time and place.
Ray’s visitation will take place on October 17, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Crestview Memory Gardens, Funeral Home & Cremation, located at 1623 Hwy 109 N, Gallatin, TN 37066. Following the visitation, an interment service will begin at 3:00 PM at the same location.
