Betty Jean Brown, age 92, of Portland, passed away on October 5th, 2021 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, TN. She was born in Portland, TN on May 15th, 1929 to the late Homer Eden & Lee Belcher Eden.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Brown; sons, Mike Brown, Kenny Brown, & Bob Brown; brothers, Homer Allen Eden, Willard Eden, John Eden; sisters, Christine Lamberth, Mildred Carter, & Martha Hodges.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her daughter-in-law, Barbara Brown; grandsons, Robert Brown & Brian Conyer; granddaughter, Tracey Douglas; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marie Eden; brothers-in-law, Ray Hodges & William Brown; & a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Brown graduated from White House High School in 1947. She was a star player of the White House Blue Devil Basketball team. She is remembered as an avid cook, who loved to feed everyone delicious meals. She loved her family and church family of the First Baptist Church in Portland, TN. She enjoyed fishing, singing, quilting, playing cards, and reading her bible. Betty’s love for The Lord & her unfailing faith is a beautiful testament. Betty cared for others so graciously and had the ability to light up any place she stepped foot. Betty Brown touched the hearts of her caregivers and anyone she encountered.
There will be a graveside service for Mrs. Brown at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 7th, 2021 at Hillcrest Cemetery in White House, TN.
