Bertha “Bea” Louise Preston, 84, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at her home in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
Bea was born on August 24, 1939, in Glasgow, Kentucky to Charlie and Helen (Farris) Smith.
Bea graduated as Valedictorian of Park City High School Class of 1957. After graduating, Bea moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky where she began her successful work career. Her early jobs gave her the knowledge and experience to own and operate 6 Save-A-Lot grocery stores based out of Bowling Green, serving South Central Kentucky.
After retiring early, Bea enjoyed her time playing golf, card games (especially Bridge), and taking cruises with her friends. She also loved having dual homes in Destin, Florida and Hendersonville, Tennessee. She loved her time at the beach, always looking at the water from the house as she didn’t like the sand!
In later years, Bea enjoyed both vegetable and flower gardening. Bea was a long-time active member of Community Church in Hendersonville. She enjoyed the continual family gatherings held on the family farm in Kentucky. But most importantly, Bea loved her family. Her love and laughter will be missed by everyone.
Bea is preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Helen Smith; husband Bob Preston; sister and brother-in-law Doris and Bob Stahl and her sister-in-law Louise Smith.
She is survived by her daughter Lora (Phil) Buntin; grandchildren Jacob (Jessie) Buntin and Sarah (Matt) Policastro.
In addition, she is survived by her sister Daisy (Bill) Holsinger; brother Roger Smith; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, from 11 am-1 pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home. A Chapel service will begin at 1 pm at the funeral home with burial to follow at Cave City Cemetery in Cave City, Kentucky. https://www.hendersonvillefh.com
