Arthur Michael Mayernick, age 84, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023, with his loving family by his side.

Art was born on April 10, 1938, to Michael and Ethel Marie (Horvath) Mayernick in Milford, Connecticut.

Art was a long time educator. He worked 25 years in the Metro School District beginning at Cumberland High School. During his teaching career, Art was a coach in basketball, baseball, and football at Neely’s Bend Middle School. He continued his teaching career as a teacher and Principal at Davidson Academy for an additional 15 years.

More than what he did, he was known for who he was. His well-lived life as beloved husband, adored daddy, and treasured Pop, is esteemed by his family. He was also loved and deeply cared for by his friends at Canterfield of Franklin and Adoration Hospice. Above all he was known for his friendship with God and extended that friendship to everyone he met. His absence will be felt by all.

Art is preceded in death by his parents Michael and Ethel; sister Kathy Mayernick and brothers-in-law Bill Burgess and Ed Hightower.

He is survived by his loving wife Glenda (Burgess) Mayernick; children Ruth (Tim) Hopkins, Mike (Suzanne) Mayernick, and Mandy (Brian) Harvey. In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren Levi Hopkins (Bridget), Glennie Hopkins (Fiance Adam Kupferberg), Ivie Hopkins, Wain Artis (Fiance Audrey), Michael Mayernick, Grace M. (Davey) Hackett, Annabelle Mayernick, MillerAnne Mayernick, Tuta M. (Joshua) Morris, Joshua Mayernick, Caleb Mayernick, Josie Love Mayernick, Ben Harvey, Elijah Harvey, Kate Harvey, and Mia Harvey; great-grandson Crew Hackett, his sister Janice Hightower and twin sister Arlene Burgess along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023, from 10 am-1 pm at Hendersonville 1st Baptist Church in Hendersonville, TN. A funeral service will begin at 1 pm with burial to follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Levi Hopkins, Adam Kupferberg, Wain Artis, Michael Mayernick, Davey Hackett, Joshua Morris, Joshua Mayernick, Caleb Mayernick, Ben Harvey, and Elijah Harvey. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the former Bobby Williams and Art Mayernick Sunday School Class.
