Anthony Ray Escue Obit

Mr. Anthony ‘Tony’ Ray Escue, age 67, of Portland, Tennessee went to his heavenly home on Saturday, January 31st at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He was born on March 16, 1958 to Donald and Nolia Escue in Gallatin, Tennessee.

Tony Ray was a man of great faith who had a kind, calming, and generous spirit. Always patient and optimistic in every situation which was reflected in the way he cared for those around him including the way he cared for his aging father as a primary caregiver over the last couple of years. A tool and die maker by trade for most of his career Tony also loved to work with his hands building and remodeling. He loved to listen to as well as play music. Especially the guitar. He was a Ford man when it came to automobiles and loved to collect antiques and unique items and was always looking for the next good deal. Tony’s home church was Faith Is The Victory in Nashville, Tennessee.

Tony Ray was a devoted husband to his wife of 49 years, Sharon. He was a father to two children, Anthony Escue II and Christina (Bryce) Gooch and was known as “Pa” to his 7 grandchildren: Ryder, and Riley Escue; Bryson, Eli, Audree and Brylee Gooch; and Keely Surles. He was the second born of his 4 siblings, Sheila Escue, Glen (Sandra) Escue, Sherry (Tony) Short and Shonda (Steven) Gammon.

Tony Ray was no doubt met in Heaven by loved ones that preceded him including his loving mother, Nolia and grandson, Ryan Escue.

A visitation with family will be held at Sellars Family Heritage at Portland on Friday, February 6th from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM with a service to follow at 1:00 PM with Bro. Bryan Cowan officiating. Interment will follow the service at Rock Bridge Cemetery with Bryson Gooch, Chase Gammon, Cooper Gammon, Steven Gammon, Josh Greer and Steve Peterson serving as pall bearers. All are welcome to attend the burial but there will be no formal procession to the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made in Tony’s honor to help offset funeral expenses.
