The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) announced this week that Tennessee United Soccer Club (TUSC) will kick off as the newest member of the UPSL Premier Division. The UPSL is the largest and most competitive pro-development league in North America
with nearly 400 clubs competing nationwide.
TUSC is one of the largest competitive youth soccer clubs in the region, providing opportunities for over 1300 families, primarily in the Sumner County and North Nashville area. TUSC’s mission is to foster an environment that encourages individual confidence and team success by providing players the opportunity to enhance their personal development through the game of soccer in our community.
“We are excited about joining the UPSL for the upcoming 2025 season, “ said Jonathan
Wayland, Executive Director of TUSC. “We look forward to providing this level of soccer in our community. The pathway and platform the UPSL provides will give our players and other players in our area further opportunities to play the game.”
The league occupies the 4th tier of the US Soccer pyramid, just below the three professional tiers in the pyramid. With a participant average age of 22.5 years, the UPSL fills and brings structure to the large gap that exists between the youth game and the professional game, serving thousands of aspiring players and coaches as they strive to further their aspirations and fuel their passions.
“We are thrilled to have TUSC join our growing family of teams.” said Christian Vallejos, Vice President of UPSL “TUSC’s passion, commitment, and skill will surely elevate the league, and we look forward to seeing the incredible impact you’ll make on and off the field. Here’s to new beginnings and exciting challenges ahead!”
The UPSL is an American soccer league with teams in regionalized conferences throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico with league play that culminates into a national
championship competition. TUSC will be competing in the 12 team TN-KY Conference that
includes teams from Memphis to Knoxville and Lexington to Chattanooga, with plenty of local rivalries to be built as well.
Adding a UPSL team to TUSC’s roster of offerings, comes at an appropriate time. The club is celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year, and to achieve a long term goal on such a milestone year is exciting for everyone involved.
TUSC’s mission has always been to provide opportunities to the local community through
soccer. Whether starting out as a juniors player or being one of many college players to receive a scholarship each year, TUSC aims to provide an opportunity for as many kids as possible.
Through the TUSC Financial Aid fund, there was over $140,000 in aid given to families this
year. TUSC will continue to strive to grow that number and create more soccer for kids and
players in the community.
