A Sumner County judge has sentenced Marco Roman Aznar to decades in prison following his conviction in a deadly shooting outside a Gallatin business.
According to District Attorney General Thomas Dean, Aznar was sentenced Monday in Sumner County Criminal Court to 25 years at 100 percent for second-degree murder. He also received an additional 10-year sentence at 30 percent for attempted second-degree murder. The sentences will be served consecutively.
The sentencing follows a jury conviction in September after a four-day trial stemming from a May 29, 2023 shooting outside General Tire in Gallatin. One man was killed and another was seriously injured in the incident.
The District Attorney’s Office credited the Gallatin Police Department for its investigation and response, and thanked jurors for their service in the case.
Assistant District Attorneys Tara Wyllie and Leticia Alexander prosecuted the case, with assistance from Victim-Witness Coordinators Jennifer Woodard and Sally Pirtle, who supported the victims and their families throughout the court process.
