On Wednesday, following a three-day jury trial, Assistant District Attorneys Tara Wyllie and Eli Freeman secured a conviction for Second Degree Murder and Attempted Tampering with Evidence against Amani Jordan.
The conviction stems from the tragic shooting on January 12, 2025, when Jordan shot and killed a juvenile at a residence on Vulco Drive in Hendersonville. The evidence showed the defendant fired five shots, fled the scene, and was on the run for 26 days before being apprehended.
His apprehension followed a thorough and professional investigation by the Hendersonville Police Department, led by Detective Steve Malach.
District Attorney General Thomas Dean issued the following statement:
“The Sumner County District Attorney’s Office is committed to seeking justice in every case. We are grateful for the diligent and professional work of the Hendersonville Police Department, especially lead Detective Steve Malach. We also appreciate the dedication of our victim witness coordinator, Sally Pirtle, for her unwavering support to the victim’s family throughout this process.”
Judge Jennifer Nichols revoked the defendants bond after conviction and sentencing is set for April 13, 2026. The Defendant faces up to 29 years if given the maximum sentence on all counts.
