A Sumner County jury has found Joaquin Pena Ramos guilty in a deadly DUI crash that claimed the life of a man on his way to work. After a three-day trial, Ramos was convicted of Vehicular Homicide by Intoxication, DUI 2nd Offense, and Driving on a Revoked License.
The charges stem from a January 28, 2024 crash on Airport Road in Gallatin, where prosecutors said Ramos was under the influence when he caused the collision. Sentencing is set for January 15, 2026, before Judge Dee David Gay. He faces 8 to 12 years in prison.
Prosecutors thanked the Gallatin Police Department for its investigation, first responders for their quick action, and trial support staff who assisted the victim’s family throughout the case. The district attorney’s office said it remains committed to standing up for victims and ensuring accountability in DUI-related deaths.
