A Hendersonville High School freshman is being credited with saving her father’s life after using CPR skills she learned in class.
Delsy Hernandez had recently completed a CPR course co-taught by instructors Brandon Averitte and Reed Coffman. Not long after, she faced a frightening situation at home when she discovered her father unresponsive. Relying on her training, Delsy immediately began CPR until help arrived.
Her quick actions made the difference. Her father spent several days in the hospital and is now back home recovering.
Hendersonville High School says Delsy is part of a growing number of students trained in lifesaving skills. Since the spring, more than 320 students have earned CPR certification through the school’s program.
