A Hendersonville school community is mourning the sudden loss of a longtime beloved staff member.

Dr. William Burrus Elementary School confirmed that Mr. Wesley Hill passed away over the weekend. His death has prompted an outpouring of grief and remembrance from families, teachers, and students who say his presence was a constant source of comfort and encouragement in the school’s hallways.

School officials say he had a unique gift for making children feel seen, valued, and supported, whether through quiet encouragement, celebrating small victories, or simply sharing a warm smile in the hallway.

“His kindness, patience, and dedication created a lasting impact that will be felt for years to come. He didn’t just work at our school—he made our school a better place,” Dr. William Burrus Elementary stated on Facebook.

The school is encouraging families and staff to keep Mr. Hill’s loved ones in their thoughts as they grieve, while the wider community reflects on the meaningful role he played in shaping young lives.
