A Sumner County jury has found a Hendersonville man guilty in a violent home invasion case, bringing justice after a multi-day trial in criminal court.
Following a three-day trial, prosecutors secured convictions against 40-year-old Nathan Charles Parks on charges of aggravated rape, aggravated burglary, and assault. The case stemmed from an early morning incident on May 20, 2023, when authorities say Parks knocked on a woman’s apartment door claiming he needed help. Once inside, he assaulted and raped the victim.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, the victim called police immediately after the attack. Officers with the Hendersonville Police Department located Parks a short time later, and he was arrested at the scene following an interview conducted by Detective Lee Chambers.
Parks has remained in custody since his arrest and now faces a potential sentence of up to 33 years in prison. Officials say most of that time would be served without the possibility of probation, parole, or early release. He is scheduled to be sentenced on June 8 by Judge Dee David Gay.
In addition to prison time, Parks will be required to register as a violent sex offender and will be placed on lifetime community supervision following the completion of his sentence.
The District Attorney’s Office credited the survivor for coming forward and acknowledged the work of the Hendersonville Police Department, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Nashville Safe Clinic, and DNA Labs International in helping secure the conviction.
