The Hendersonville Fire Department has begun its annual inspection of all apartment buildings and condominium complexes for open flame appliances on balconies and patios. The inspections began June 1, 2022.

This is in compliance with City Ordinance 7-202, Section 308.3.1, which states “open flame cooking devices shall not be operated or stored on balconies or within 10 feet of combustible construction.” Penalties can result in fines up to $500 for each offense.

The fire department reminds people to use designated areas for grilling.
