The dry conditions have forced the Hendersonville Fire Department to issue a burn ban for the entire city until further notice. The risk of fire is very high due to the lack of rain and extremely dry conditions. Under all burn bans, (specified in Hendersonville Municipal Code Section 7-402-3) open fires and fireworks are prohibited unless a permit is obtained through the Hendersonville Fire Department.

The only active fireworks permit issued by the Hendersonville Fire Department is for Pyro Shows Incorporated for the fireworks display on July 3rd as part of the Freedom Festival.  For that event, the Hendersonville Fire Department is taking extra precautions:

  • Wetting down the area on July 1st and again on July 2nd with 3,000 gallons of water where the company will be setting up,
  • Dispatching the department’s boat on Drakes Creek during the display,
  • Posting the department’s all-terrain vehicle in Drakes Creek Park for much of the day Sunday,
  • Having an engine company and fire engine on hand in Drakes Creek Park Sunday, and
  • Having the department’s brush truck in Drakes Creek Park Sunday.

The burn ban will be in place until there is enough rainfall that is adequate to eliminate the current dry conditions.
