The City of Hendersonville is warning residents of a scam in which the scammer claims to be with Amazon.

Officials say “an individual in Hendersonville was contacted by a scammer who claimed to be with Amazon. The scammer told the individual that there is possible fraudulent activity connected to their Amazon account and they were then called again by a number appearing to be from the Hendersonville Police Department, when in fact the call was not from HPD.”

City officials warn residents that this is a scam. The scammer was likely hoping to obtain personal information from the victim in order to steal the victim’s identity or money. Luckily, this individual did not fall for the scam.

Officials remind you to never provide your personal information, including banking account number, credit or debit card numbers, date of birth, driver’s license number or social security number to anyone over the phone or internet unless you are absolutely certain as to who is receiving your personal information.
