December 17, 2024 – On Tuesday evening, 12/17/2024, a parent reported a concern to the administration of J.W. Wiseman Elementary School in Portland that a custodian at the school had provided her daughter with a cell phone.
After an initial conversation between the parent, the school principal, and the school resource officer, the incident was turned over to the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office SRO Special Investigations Unit, which began an immediate investigation.
The investigation determined that Tracy Lee Crews of Portland, TN, had provided the student with a cell phone in an attempt to solicit photos, images, or videos of the student for sexual gratification.
As of Wednesday morning, 12/18/2024, Mr. Crews has been arrested by the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office and has been charged with two counts of exploitation of a minor by electronic means, possession of a schedule two narcotic, and introduction of contraband into a penal facility.
This is an active and ongoing investigation.
