June 19, 2025 – Domestic violence suspect Thaddeus Carmichael, 27, was arrested Tuesday after being wanted for Sunday night’s alleged attack on his girlfriend at her Goodlettsville residence which turned into a vehicle chase, resulting in her crashing at the intersection of I-65 South and I-40 East.

After the crash, the woman was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where on Monday she was able to communicate to a nurse what had occurred, and police were called. She reported that she and Carmichael were involved in a verbal argument when he began physically assaulting her, strangling her and threatening to kill her. She grabbed her 2-year-old son and fled to her car and attempted to drive to a relative’s house, but Carmichael had gotten into his vehicle and blocked her path. She tried to drive to the Goodlettsville Police Department but he continued to block her path. She got onto the Interstate where both vehicles were traveling in excess of 100 mph prior to the crash. She said that Carmichael grabbed a metal object and began to try and break her window. Police and Fire arrived on the scene and took both the woman and her son to the hospital for their non-critical injuries.

Carmichael is charged with two counts of attempted homicide, two counts of aggravated assault, especially aggravated kidnapping, aggravated child endangerment, theft for taking the victim’s phone, reckless driving, and driving without a license. He is jailed on $255,000 bond.
