January 9, 2025 – Sumner County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man wanted out of Florida after he allegedly accidentally called 911.
Deputies responded to the 911 call at the Country Inn Motel Wednesday. Deputy Chartier arrived on scene and located the caller, Jacob Vanderburg, in one of the rooms. After discovering the call was an accident, further investigation, Deputy Chartier led to the discovery of a large wooden cross hidden under a blanket.
A quick check revealed Jacob Vanderburg was not just any guest; he was wanted in Florida for theft, trespassing, and robbery. It turns out, Pensacola PD was looking for that very cross.
Vanderburg was taken into custody and charged as a fugitive from justice. The cross was safely logged as evidence.
