A fire damaged The Cozy Nook Coffee House in Hendersonville Tuesday afternoon, prompting a 911 call from an employee and a response from local first responders.
According to the business, a barista called 911 at approximately 12:04 p.m. after discovering the fire. The owners says they are heartbroken, adding the business had become more than just a coffee shop and served as a gathering place for the community.
“It’s a place where everyone is welcome, a place where friendships have been formed, stories have been shared, laughter has echoed through the room, and tears have been met with hugs and encouragement. We’ve celebrated life’s milestones together and stood beside one another during life’s hardest moments. You are more than customers to us, you are family,” the shop stated on Facebook.
In the social media post, Cozy Nook Coffee House also thanked the Hendersonville Fire Department and Hendersonville Police Department for their response and support during the incident, along with the customers and community members who gathered to offer prayers and encouragement.
As the business deals with the aftermath of the fire, The Cozy Nook Coffee House has launched a GoFundMe to support employees affected by the closure and help cover rebuilding and recovery costs not fully covered by insurance.
The coffee shop has not announced when it may reopen but said it plans to keep customers updated as recovery efforts continue.
