The City of Goodlettsville has approved a package of economic incentives to support the transformative RiverGate Mall Redevelopment Project. This decision was made during special-called meetings of the Goodlettsville Board of Commissioners and the Goodlettsville Industrial Development Board on the evening of May 29th. The action follows similar approvals recently granted by the Metro Nashville Council and its Industrial Development Board.
The redevelopment project is being led by Merus, Inc. (formerly Al Neyer) and will feature a thoughtfully designed, mixed-use community integrating residential, retail, entertainment, medical, and other complementary uses. Although final master plans are still pending approval, preliminary proposals indicate that most of the existing RiverGate Mall will be demolished, with the exception of the Dillard’s department store, which will remain in its current location.
At present, approximately 33% of the mall building lies within the corporate limits of the City of Goodlettsville. Under the current preliminary site plan, this figure is expected to rise to nearly 65% – 70%, representing a significant increase in the economic benefits the city will derive from the redevelopment.
“This is a transformational project that will convert a legacy retail site into a dynamic, mixed-use destination that enhances the quality of life for our entire community,” said Mary Laine Hucks, Director of Communications and spokesperson for the City of Goodlettsville. “The vision and collaboration of the City of Goodlettsville Board of Commissioners, the Goodlettsville Industrial Development Board, city staff, all levels of Metro Government, and Merus will have a lasting and positive impact on the future of Goodlettsville.”
Demolition of the existing mall structure is anticipated to begin later this summer, with the overall development advancing in a phased approach.
