The City of Gallatin is excited to announce a special gift card giveaway campaign aimed at encouraging residents to complete the Gallatin Special Census. With a goal of reaching 50,000 counted residents, the campaign is randomly giving out 24 gift cards worth $50 as an incentive to drive participation and support the local economy. As of December 17, 2024, the census count stands at 39,711 residents who have participated.
The Gallatin City Council approved the giveaway campaign at the December 3, 2024 meeting, with the condition that all gift cards be sourced from local businesses. “This initiative is a win-win for Gallatin,” Gallatin Special Census representative Gracie Perez said. “We’re encouraging more people to complete the census while simultaneously supporting our local businesses.”
Each Friday, two winners will be drawn from the pool of residents who have completed the census survey. Winners will be contacted by a member of the Gallatin Special Census team and provided with a list of local businesses to choose their gift card from. This list includes restaurants, boutiques, grocery stores, cleaning businesses, and more.
If a winner cannot be contacted within two weeks, a new name will be drawn to ensure the prizes are distributed.
The Gallatin Special Census began in August 2024 and is scheduled to conclude in February 2025.
“We believe many residents were not counted during the 2020 Federal Census because of many factors, including the pandemic,” Gallatin Mayor Paige Brown explained. “This undercount has impacted the funding we receive from the state. This is funding that we should already be receiving and is critical for maintaining and improving city services, parks, and infrastructure.”
Residents can complete the census survey online, by mail, or in person with a field representative at their home. Completing the survey is quick, easy, and has a direct impact on the city’s future. The census survey can be found on the City of Gallatin’s website at the following link: https://survey123.arcgis.com/share/9bc7a63fc3ee45c7bb0f620ca8cf4d5b?portalUrl=https://arcweb.gallatin-tn.gov/portal
The City of Gallatin needs everyone who lives in Gallatin to participate in the Special Census and help spread the word. For every person counted in the Special Census, Gallatin will receive an additional $175 annually from the state. Completing the census not only brings vital funds to the city but also ensures that Gallatin receives fair, elected representation and other resources.
