Firefighters from multiple departments responded to a chimney and structure fire at a home on Pee Dee Branch Road in Cottontown Tuesday.
The Cottontown Fire Department says crews were assisted by White House Community VFD and Shackle Island VFD, with additional manpower provided by Number One VFD. White House Community VFD Brush 51 was first on scene, completing an initial size-up, making entry, and beginning fire suppression using extinguishers provided by sheriff’s deputies until additional units arrived.
Once Engine 71 reached the scene, its attack plan was put into action. Officials say there was heavy damage to the second floor, but firefighters were able to save the home.
