Authorities have received reports of black bear sightings in the Gallatin area. While unexpected for some residents, wildlife experts say bear activity is not unusual—especially as the animals roam in search of food this time of year.

Officials are reminding the public to avoid approaching or feeding the bear and to take precautions to reduce potential attractants around their homes. This includes securing trash, bringing pet food indoors, and removing bird feeders when possible.

“If you spot the bear, give it plenty of space,” officials advise. “Let’s all work together to keep both our community and the bear safe.”

Residents are encouraged to report sightings to local wildlife authorities and to remain alert while outdoors.
